Organizers urge audience to avoid traffic snarls, use public transit for Dalai Lama's April 24 talk

April 21, 2004

OTTAWA - Organizers of the Dalai Lamas public talk are warning of heavy traffic and parking problems in the Glebe near the Ottawa Civic Centre this Saturday. They urge the audience to leave their cars at home and take public transit to get to the event, to avoid the disappointment of missing part or all of the talk due to traffic congestion.

9,000 people are expected to attend the Dalai Lamas talk on April 24. Two other unrelated events are also running concurrently at Lansdowne Park that day. If people do not make use of public transit the combined crowds will far exceed parking capacity, causing traffic snarls and delays, possibly forcing people to be late or even miss the event.

OC Transpo is stepping up its bus service on routes # 1 and # 7 to accommodate extra demand for public transit. Please check www.octranspo.com or call 741-4390 for more information about bus routes and schedules.
