Ottawa resident to meet Dalai Lama on Tuesday
 
(Montreal, Monday, 4 May 2009) – Ottawa resident Norman Reid will participate in a private audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Manhattan on Tuesday. Mr. Reid will present His Holiness with thirty photographs from his late father’s 1947 expedition to Tibet.
 
Norman Reid is the son of Ernest Reid one of the first Canadians to ever visit Tibet. In February 1947, Reid and fellow Canadian William Dunning entered Tibet to make a film documentary. Theirs was the only known Canadian expedition to visit Tibet before the Chinese invasion in 1950.
 
The audience was organized in part by the Canada Tibet Committee and Mr. Reid will be accompanied by Canada Tibet Committee member Ryszard Cimek.
