Tibet Lobby Day on Parliament Hill

March 02, 2011

(Montreal, Wednesday, 2 March 2011) – Tibetan-Canadians are fanning out across Parliament Hill today to meet with MPs and Senators from all political parties as part of the second national lobby day organized by the Canada Tibet Committee and Students for a Free Tibet.
A variety of critical issues facing the Tibetan people inside Tibet will be raised during the meetings including: calling on the government of China to respect the human rights of both Tibetans and Chinese citizens; safeguarding Tibet’s cultural, religious, and linguistic identity; and the continued need for the government of Canada to provide development assistance for environmentally sustainable and culturally appropriate development inside Tibet and requiring Canadian corporations operating in China to comply with the highest global standards of corporate social responsibility.
