Ottawa - His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Jason Kenney and Nancy Pelosi will speak to an audience of international parliamentarians at the inaugural session of the WPCT conference on April 27th at 1:30 p.m. The inaugural session will be preceded with a pre-convention panel discussion chaired by Richard Gere: Inter-dependence between China and the World.



Plenary sessions will feature discussion of: environmental, social and human rights issues in Tibet and will result in the issuing of the Ottawa Declaration and action plan. Full agenda and biographies are attached.



The Chair and Vice Chairs of the Parliamentary Friends of Tibet (Canada), Senator Consiglio Di Nino, Irwin Cotler, Peggy Nash and David Sweet will be available for interviews as will be the Co-Chairs of the International Network of Parliamentarians on Tibet, Matteo Mecacci and Thomas Mann. Requests can be made for interviews with speakers.



Accreditation:

  • Parliamentary Press Gallery Accreditation will be accepted.

  • Media who are not accredited with the Parliamentary Press Gallery can request accreditation by sending a letter of assignment to Collin Lafrance ( collin.lafrance@parl.g.ca ) no later than Wednesday April 25th.

  • Accreditation for the 6th World Parliamentarians’ Convention on Tibet will also be accepted at the public talk of His Holiness on Saturday April 28th.
