CTC welcomes new Chair to its Board of Directors

Montreal, February 4, 2015: The Canada Tibet Committee (CTC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Hon. Consiglio DiNino as the new Chair of its Board of Directors. The appointment takes effect immediately.
Mr. Di Nino brings more than four decades of business and public sector experience to the CTC. He is a respected former member of the Senate of Canada (1990/2012) during which time he was an avid Tibet supporter and Chair of the Canadian Parliamentary Friends of Tibet from 1997 until his retirement in 2012 . His extensive financial sector career includes as founder, President and CEO of Cabot Trust Company (1979/1991). In addition to his business experience, DiNino has a lengthy record of community service with organizations in the Toronto area.
The CTC Board of Directors wishes to extend its heartfelt thanks to outgoing President and Board Chair Tenzin Lhalungpa who has been a central figure within the organization since its beginnings. Together with his wife Deke, Lhalungpa served as President of the local CTC Vancouver Branch and in 2007 was elected President of the National Board of Directors. During Tenzin’s tenure as Board President, the CTC negotiated an agreement with the Government of Canada that will enable 1000 displaced Tibetans to immigrate to Canada from the eastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh.
