This is the second time that Dr. Sangay has appeared before the Subcommittee. [2] He is expected to update members about the current human rights situation in Tibet, and efforts by his administration to renew the stalled Sino-Tibetan dialogue.

On the occasion of Dr. Sangay’s appearance in Parliament, the Canada Tibet Committee today released its written submission to the Subcommittee.  The submission highlights the Tibetan proposal for a peaceful resolution of the Tibet issue, and suggests that Canada could play an important role in promoting it.

During his three day visit to Ottawa, Dr. Sangay met with parliamentarians, representatives of civil society, and the local Tibetan community.  This is his forth visit to the nation’s capital, and his first since Justin Trudeau was elected as Canada’s Prime Minister.
