Media Advisory – Accreditation: Dalai Lama Ottawa Public Talk

(Montreal, Monday, 1 October 2007) – Applications for media accreditation to the Public Talk by His Holiness the Dalai Lama are now available from the Canada Tibet Committee ( A copy of the application form is also attached to this Advisory. The Public Talk will be held on Sunday, 28 October at the Ottawa Civic Centre.

The Canada Tibet Committee (CTC) will accept accreditation applications until Monday, 22 October 2007. Accreditation will only be provided to applicants with valid media credentials.

Members of the Canadian Parliamentary Press Gallery intending to cover the event are required to complete the attached application. Passport photos are not required; however, you will need to show Press Gallery credentials on Sunday, October 28th at the registration table.

Media representatives who are not members of the Canadian Parliamentary Press Gallery must include two passport photos and a letter of assignment from a recognized media outlet (print, radio and TV) with their application. Two pieces of valid photo identification will be required at the registration table on Sunday.

The CTC intends to provide a live broadcast feed (video and audio) at the Public Talk. To enhance the quality of this event for the public and His Holiness, we ask that broadcast outlets rely on the feed. However, a limited and fixed space will be available for cameras (if required) and photographers. Additional information regarding the broadcast feed will be distributed in a Media Advisory prior to the Public Talk.

On-site registration for the media will take place on Sunday, from Noon to 3:30 PM at Gate 1, Bank Street entrance (west end of the Centre).

Please note that this accreditation is valid only for the Public Talk on Sunday, 28 October. Media accreditation for all other events will be handled by Parliamentary Friends of Tibet.
