Italy’s Province of Siena Hosts Meeting on Tibet

Siena - Italy's northern province of Siena hosted an official meeting on December 10th on the 60th year of Universal Declaration of Human Rights at the historic Hall of Tapestries, Siena provincial administration. Chime Youngdung, President of the National Democratic Party of Tibet and activist Tenzin Tsundue were especially invited from India to speak on the occasion.
 
Mr Lorenzo Garibaldi, the host of the event, said, "In Italy also we have our share of problems, but the human rights violations in Tibet is a huge concern for us and we wanted to hear from Tibetans about the human rights situation in Tibet today." The meeting was hosted in.
 
Tsundue said, "China is not only running a colonial empire out of the occupied countries like Inner Mongolia, East Turkestan, Tibet and Manchuria, this corrupt communist regime has deprived basic human rights to the 1.3 billion Chinese people. The western countries should. "
 
Chime Youndung said that the real issue is the Independence of Tibet. "If the occupation of Tibet is ended all these issues like human rights, right to religion and freedom of expression will naturally fall into place".
 
The meeting was coordinated by Riccardo Zerbetto, the coordinator of World Action on Tibet, Italy. Prominent Tibet supporter Claudio Cardelli, President of Italy-Tibet Association also made a passionate speech calling for a united effort from the European Union countries in support of Tibet. Manfredi Manera, a journalist and Tibet supporter, was also there among other members of Italia Tibet attending the conference. At the end of the meeting, the Maji Valcarenghi, Director of Di Re Nudo, who was chairing the meeting, said the Provincial administration of Siena will take the issues to the Italian parliament where there is already a vibrant debate on Tibet.
 
The visiting Tibetan activists earlier met with some Italian MPs and addressed a special hearing on Tibet at the Italian parliamentary building annexe. The radical party MPs are in the process of drafting a resolution proposing Italian head of the state to meet with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The two will also be travelling to other European cities giving lectures and holding discussion sessions.
