BANGALORE: To mark late global peace activist and artist V Balu's 80th birthday, a special tribute programme will be organized at the Chitrakala Parishat from December 26 to 30. The event will be in conjunction with an exhibition of his works at the same venue.
Balu died in a road accident in September 2007. He spent 25 years spreading his `Antar Shanthi Kala' (art of inner peace) message across the world. Balu and his work drew praise from many, including Nobel laureates like the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu. He received the Karnataka Rajyotsava award, a doctorate from Bangalore University, and bronze medal from UNESCO.
As part of the programme, a book, `Peaceful Images: A Celebration of Dr V Balu's Life', will be released. Chief minister B S Yedyurappa will inaugurate the exhibition on Friday at 6.30 pm. Writer Chandrashekara Kambara will be the guest of honour.
