News from recent Tibet Economic Work Meeting is that for the entire year
2007, Tibet is expected to break a total of 4,020,000 tourist arrivals,
60% higher than last year. With the newly opened Qinghai-Tibet railway
and Linzhi Airport's expanded operations, the tourism industry in Tibet
has entered a prime era for development.

Data reported in the meeting indicates that Tibet increased by 1.51
million arrivals compared with last year, and total tourism revenue will
reach RMB4.8 billion in 2007 with a year-on-year growth rate of 73.3%.

At present, the Tibet Tourism Bureau has launched some winter tour
products incorporating Linzhi, Lhasa and Shigatse itineraries to attract
more tourists, which has made its off-season still hot.
