Beijing -- China has let its feelings be known
about the planned visit to the U.S. by the Dalai Lama.

Beijing doesn't want it to happen and has asked
the U.S. not to allow the exiled Tibetan
spiritual leader to come calling next week.

China calls the Dalai Lama a separatist whose
goal is to split off nearly a quarter of the People's Republic of China.

Beijing has been employing its diplomatic
influence to block his pro-Tibetan message.

It wants to have the U.S. deny the Dalai Lama any
opportunity to engage in any splitist activities in the country.

Last year, China canceled a summit with the
European Union after French President Nicolas
Sarkozy said he planned to hold talks with the Dalai Lama.
