Tibet Support Group formed in Darjeeling

Dharamshala -- The Tibetan Parliament-in-exile
congratulated the newly elected members of the
Tibet Support Group (TSG) in Darjeeling, a town
in the Indian state of West Bengal.  The group was formed on 22 June 2009.

There are 27 executive members in the support
group, who are also members of various
non-governmental organisations in Darjeeling such
as All India Tamang Buddhist Association; Sherpa
Buddhist Association; Himalayan Buddhist Cultural
Association; Tibetan Muslim Association; Yolmo
Buddhist Association; Dharma Chakra Committee;
Manjushree Centre of Tibetan Culture; Tamang
Buddhist Association; Sikkimese Denzong Buddhist
Association; Kidhu Chu, Chagpori Tibetan Medical
Institute; Students for Free Tibet and Markaj Gonpa.

In a letter sent to the TSG members on 14 August,
Deputy Speaker Dolma Gyari said: "The Standing
Committee of Tibetan Parliament in exile is
deeply honoured and hereby formally conveys our
hearty congratulations for the successful
formation of the Tibet Support Group."

"We also express our sincere gratitude to the
entire team of newly elected governing members of
the Tibet Support Group in Darjeeling for taking
the pivotal role in making the inception of such
a group possible, which we hope, will mark a new
chapter in the realization of Tibetan cause," Mrs Gyari said.
